Congestion Arrows

SCATS (Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System) is a traffic signal control system developed in Australia. RCOC has customized SCATS to fit its needs.

SCATS has been installed at over 430 of the 1200 intersections in Oakland County. SCATS coordinates signal timing within a corridor, and automatically adjusts signal timings based on traffic conditions.

Actually SCATS provides real-time information about current traffic congestion for each equipped intersection. The following colored arrows are used to represent the level of congestion at each intersection:

    Heavy

    Moderate

    Light

   None

   No information
